ANC member in the Nkomazi Municipality Ward 28, Sizwe Nyambi was shot 7 times shortly after speaking out against the Nkomazi local municipal management in a 35-minute-long video explaining how the alleged workers sabotage the water supply in efforts of getting an increase in their working hours.

Mr. Nyambi is concerned about how the local municipal management fails to deliver water supplies to the Nkomazi district even though they have all the resources they need to deliver services to the people of Nkomazi municipality. he goes on to describe how the municipal workers only deliver water supply to residents who are willing to pay for the water although the water was meant for all Nkomazi residents at no extra charge.

The shooting happened a few hours after he went live on Facebook. According to the information received, the victim arrived at his residence in Schoemansdal on the evening of the 1st of October 2024, with a companion around 9.20pm and stopped in front of the gate to open it. At that moment, an armed man wearing a black jersey, and a white hat approached him and fired several shots, resulting in the victim sustaining injuries. It is said that the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical care and is now fighting for his life.
