Phumlani Marcelle Mbonene, widely recognized by his stage name Slo Makoya, is a rising star in the entertainment industry and a proud father of two. His journey began on the dirty streets of Jabulani, Soweto, where he discovered his passion for acting and singing at an early age.
Slo Makoya is not just an artist but also a songwriter, determined to make a mark on the global stage. He declares, “I won’t rest until I’ve made it into an international film.” His journey began in a church choir and participating in plays, which revealed his natural talent.

His exceptional skills have already gained recognition in South Africa, with numerous appearances in SABC dramas. His roles have been diverse, ranging from Nonny’s blind date on Muvhango, a delivery guy on Ses’Top La, to a plumber at Lerato and Sechaba’s house on the then SABC3’s Isidingo, Generations, and Isithembiso.
He has had the honour of sharing the stage with retable artists such as the late Brown Dash, Sash, Izinyoka Nyoka, and Mzekezeke. From then on, he has been committed to excelling in his craft.
His recent work includes the release of his Amapiano hit song “Amaround Amaningi,” along with other hits from the “I am Slo” album. He is currently working on a Reality Show and developing a clothing brand named “Randzo,” with more exciting projects on the horizon.
